This simple activity is for celebrating the Transfiguration of Jesus.
This “sun-catcher” is meant to resemble the gleaming white light that Jesus had shown on the mountain during His transfiguration.
To make this craft you will need:
  • printable image printed on stock paper
(This is a FREE file in our Shop! – Click Here)
  • wax paper (slightly smaller in size than the printable image)
  • crayons or colored pencils
  • tape
  • scissors
Instructions:
Print the image of Jesus onto stock/heavy paper.
Color the background behind Jesus.
It can be as simple as rays of light to as detailed as a mountain scene with clouds.
Now cut out the circle and the Jesus shape.
Tape wax paper to the back so the light can shine through Jesus.
Use string, tape or tack putty to hang it on a window or a light/lamp.
Kids love shining a flashlight through it too!!
Optional idea:
To make it “gift quality” or sturdy enough for younger children to play with, you could laminate it or put it in contact paper.
Have Fun!!

  10. Thank you for the wonderful idea! I'm teaching on the transfiguration this Sunday and I really needed a hands on activity for the children to do. I've looked several other places and couldn't find anything, but this is just what I am looking for. Thank you

  11. The kids at Children's Church loved making these today!I used a box cutter to cut out Jesus. So we're going to use all our leftover Jesus cut outs either for Easter and put him next to an empty tomb, our for Divine Mercy Sunday and let the kids glue red and blue ribbon to Him.

  12. Thanks so much for the ideas…my kids will be prepared for Sunday's Gospel. God Bless…
